I love a traditional farmhouse kitchen design, and this one does not disappoint. From the classic white cabinets with charming brass hardware and polished plank flooring, to the charming brushed nickel light fixtures and farmhouse sink, this kitchen has it all. This is a great place to start if you are looking for kitchen remodel ideas that are a little more classic in style. I think that oftentimes we try to reinvent the wheel when we are planning a renovation, when we should actually be going back to the basics. Rather than ripping out gorgeous old solid wood cabinets, perhaps refinish them in a popular white shade. Or polish up those stunning original would floors rather than replacing them with todays hottest marble tiles. Whether you are planning a small kitchen design or revamping a huge space, adding elements of charming farmhouse design would elevate any home. This could be as simple as installing a fantastic porcelain sink, or as large as adding a headboard ceiling and chair rail. The possibilities are endless.
Planning the right kitchen layouts can have a huge impact on the traffic flow of the room, but also the feel of your entire home. Their are two main categories of floorplans that you can choose from an open layout or a closed room. Each of these types are exactly how they sound. An open layout integrates multiple rooms (often a kitchen, living room, and dining area) into one unified space that encourages continuous flow through all spaces. Alternatively, a closed kitchen is one that can be completely shut off from the rest of the home by a doorway. An open kitchen design like this one, is a great option for families or those that love to cook and entertain at the same time. They allow the home chef to cook while chatting with guests, or for families to watch television, do homework, and talk all in the same area. A closed kitchen is a better option for those that prefer to keep the noise, mess, and smell of food prep away from the main congregating spaces of the home. Today it is considered a more outdated look, but one that still has a place with some homeowners especially if you dont like the look of kitchen decor mixed in with more formal living areas.
A white kitchen remodel is my favorite type of home makeover.I think they have an extremely classic look, and can take on an endless number of decor schemes due to their fairly neutral style foundation. This gorgeous kitchen design is one of my favorite examples of how to do this look well. You will notice that, although we kept the color scheme simple and streamlined with an all white theme, we brought in design interest through different textures and patterns. For example, the addition of glass cabinet doors and panelled accents give the cabinets dimension and style. This combined with classic white subway tile backsplash and simple white wall paint and trim colors, create and monochromatic palette. However, the variety of patterns make each individual element pop. These are fantastic kitchen ideas that can be integrated into any space without breaking the bank. Not only this, a stunning monochromatic white kitchen is incredibly easy to design because you dont have to worry about selecting a complicated color palette.
We recently finished this contemporary kitchen update and could not be happier. Between the rustic barnwood floors, classic white cabinets, and huge Viking range, it has anything that a chef could possibly dream of. My favorite part of the space is actually the use of outstanding multipurpose kitchen island designs. We incorporated so many great elements into this one feature, that it really became the focal point of the room. The large island has substantial seating for dining or entertaining, a built in microwave, large sink, disguised dishwasher, and trash station, as well as a ton of counterspace for prep work. Not only is it highly functional, but the gorgeous black granite countertops and delicate polished chrome faucet make it the design highlight of the room. It would certainly be easy to mimic elements of this in any kitchen design with room for an island. The key is evaluating the space available and integrating whatever units you are most lacking in your space.
Modern kitchen cabinets are a fun element to give any home that professionally designed look. Admittedly, this decor trend can be a bit intimidating. The sleek lines and edgy finishes are not something you see in your average home. For this reason, it is important to do your research before you select the elements to bring into your own decor. This home is a great example, of modern kitchen design done well. The rich wood finish of the cabinets gives a warmth that offsets the minimalist lines and cold metal accents of the design. Keeping the kitchen bright through paint color, natural lighting, and stunning light fixtures also prevents the overall look from being too harsh. Of you course, you dont have to fully commit to a contemporary kitchen design. Instead you can combine various modern elements alongside more traditional features, to give just a hint of contemporary decor. For example, consider pairing modern kitchen cabinets like these alongside rustic wood floors and a panelled ceiling. The result would be an eclectic mix of styles that looks straight out of a magazine.
Beautiful kitchens can make or break a home. Experts say that they are one of the top two items that buyers are looking for when the view a listing. For this reason, it is so important to ensure that the space is updated with a great decor scheme, especially if you are considering selling your home in the near future. All successful kitchen makeovers tend to have a few similar elements. First, and most importantly, the space should have a cohesive style and color palette that, ideally, is similar to the rest of the home. Second, solid surface or granite countertops are an absolute must in todays market. Luckily, there are hundreds of varieties available today at any price point, from budget to high end. Finally, be sure that your kitchen design has at least a few luxe elements. This could be stunning pendant light fixtures like this home, or it could be a beautiful tile backsplash or designer floors. Remember, designing beautiful kitchens does not need to be intimidating, just keep these things in mind and your are sure to have a gorgeous space.
