I am trying to decide if these landscape design ideas are enough for our yard or if I should add in some flower beds or planters to bring in some color. I like all of the varying shades of green because it adds depth and a lush feel to the garden design. The one thing that I think that it lacks though is a focal point (other than the path I suppose). Most yards that I have seen on here have a little bit more color (other than green), so I am wondering if it is apparent that we are lacking that. I had wanted to keep our front yard landscaping ideas pretty simple, but I think that I may have gone a little bit too far and am now leaning on the side of boring. What do you think? I am definitely open to suggestions!
In my opinion people really underestimate the importance of picking out the right landscape design ideas to put around their pool decks. You can't just install a pool and whatever style deck or patio surrounding it and expect that it is just going to work perfectly with your backyard. Well maybe you could in some cases, but more often than not you really need to think through the pool landscape designs that you choose. These are a major way to make your pool feel like a very intentional and decorative park of your backyard decor. Not only does this just make everything look better, but every time you step outside you feel like you are at a luxurious hotel (or at least that is my experience). Down here in Florida, you rarely see any landscape design ideas that do not incorporate a pool (whether small or large). In fact, I would go so far as to say that I think that a suburban backyard design is sorely lacking without one because it just gets so hot and muggy down here. You really need something to cool you off, or else you cannot spend much time outdoors. When it comes to landscaping ideas around the pool, I always go with the less is more approach. I don't mean that you shouldn't have landscaping, I just mean that it shouldn't be too formal and over manicured. I prefer more casual and wild landscaping ideas like this that make it look like you have a jungle beyond your pool deck. I just think that it make for a much more natural look and is far easier and less expensive to maintain.
I love super structured landscape design ideas around traditional brick homes because I just think that it enhances the beauty of that architectural style. English garden design ideas are a great option for these homes because they incorporate a lot of evergreen bushes and hedges that provide a striking contrast against the red brick of the exterior that stays vibrant all year round. Sure these types of designs take a little bit of work because you need to keep them trimmed and maintained, but I think that it is worth it for the effect that it brings. I am not talking about having a giant and super intricate backyard landscape design, just some nice boxwoods lining the foundation, or a trimmed holly tree flanking doorways.
Even though we live in a typical suburban neighborhood, I love finding landscape design ideas from these stunning properties in exotic locations. This house itself is just amazing with the unique architecture and out-of-this-world views, but I was particularly drawn to the backyard landscaping ideas because it looks like a manicured oasis in the midst of the rougher terrain outside of the fence. Even though it is obviously well planned out and maintained, the backyard still has a slightly "wild" feel that looks so good on that property. The way they planned out the landscaping to enhance the patio designs was perfect and really makes the place look like a fancy resort or something. I wish that I could achieve the same quality in our yard.
The way that I describe the landscape design ideas that they used here is "whimsical fairy garden," and it is exactly the look that I want to achieve in both our front and back yard. I have never really spent much time looking at garden ideas because it simply was not on my radar. That is not to say that I am not opinionated on what I like though. I really do not like anything too structured because it does not feel authentic to me. I really like it when a landscape design (professional or not) has a wild feel about it, but you can still tell that there is thought and effort put in. My ideal yard would have some sort of water source in it like they have here. Whether that is a pond or little stream. It would also have lots of trees and wild flowers, but planted in a very intentional way.
