My best friend told me about a house design app that you can use to actually virtually plan out your home down to the color of the siding and types of trees you plan in the yard. I love pretty much anything house design, so I immediately downloaded it just to play around and see if I could recreate our house. Admittedly I got a little bit carried away because I built this big mansion instead haha. It amazes me how far technology has come and how detailed you can get with things. It took me a few hours of playing around with the home design app to get the hang of things, but by the end of it I had created this huge 6000 square foot mansion complete with the type of car I wanted (hello red Ferrari) in my spacious double car garage. I am excited to get started playing around with the interior spaces soon.
I've gotta admit that I was really skeptical about using a house design app to plan out our new backyard at first. I know that a lot of people rave about these things, but I was picturing more of the old school landscape design software programs, and did not think that something like that could possibly help influence or streamline our concept. Boy was I wrong! I am so surprised with how easy it was to throw together this design and actually replicate our home down to the siding color and style. My favorite part of the app was how it gave a virtual home design 3d rendering of the new space, so that we could see how the yard was going to look before we ever committed to anything. We actually scrapped a couple of ideas after seeing how they look in the "real" yard.
If I told you that I created this whole outdoor space using a free house design app would you believe me? Well I am as surprised as you are to tell you how incredibly easy it is to come up with your own house designs plans now that they have so many resources available for tech savvy homeowners like myself. In general, I love playing around with things on the computer or iPad so this was definitely right up my alley. Essentially all I did was input the exact dimensions of our home, then I added detailing like our siding material, paint color etc. then just took off playing around with different ways to revamp the architectural style and backyard entertaining area. I imagine that it would be super easy to design your own house with something like this and you would save so much money.

I started searching online for different programs that could be helpful and, surprisingly, found a ton of free stuff that actually seems to be almost professional grade. From what I could tell, the top house design apps all gave you the ability to pick and choose every little detail down to the siding material, and carpet color (even landscaping). We went with the one with the highest ratings and played around with it for a little bit before we were able to come up with this plan. As you can see it looks like something a professional architect would generate for you.
If I could recommend one thing to any homeowners like myself who are planning out a home remodel project, it is to download a house design app (could be free or one you pay for) to help you through the process. I read through a lot of forums as I was trying to pick out the program we should use, and most people suggested looking for a few key things in the home design software product you chose. Whether you are downloading an iphone app or an actual computer program for your laptop or whatever, you should definitely look for something that gives you the ability to walk through a virtual plan of your house designs (this is the 3d renderings we got from our program). Most apps will even let you put in furniture and landscaping so that you can literally see exactly what it would look like.
I feel so empowered and bold after downloading this house design app because I feel like I can renovate (or build) our new home all on my own now without having to hire professional decorators or architects. A couple of my friends have actually mentioned interior design apps over the years but I never really paid them any attention because I am not the most tech savvy person in the world. Once I found out how much a designer costs, I was outraged enough to give one of those new fangled programs a whirl. Boy was I glad I did because I was able to come up with the stunning (in my opinion) plans all on my home with just a room design app. This one is especially neat because you can save "photos" of how your new house will look before you ever spend money on actually buying something.
