I would love some help figuring out the best kitchen colors to update our new home. As you can see we have a very nice sized space and some good quality cabinetry, but I think that overall the room is lacking in contemporary and on trend kitchen design ideas. I have always wanted a white kitchen, so I think that our first step will be painting the cabinetry white. Beautiful white kitchens have such an elegant and timeless look that goes well with just about any style or decor motif that I can think of. So, with that being said, what do you think the best kitchen paint colors would be to coordinate with white cabinetry, warm honey stained floors and most likely deep blue decorative accents?
When it comes to picking out the best kitchen colors for your home, I always suggest starting with the basics of what you like using the room for and what you plan on doing with the rest of your neighboring living areas. It doesn't really matter what is the most popular color for a kitchen, because this is your house and your personal decorating style. As such, the palette that you choose should be a reflection of you and your family. Of course, some people do get bogged down in trying to be "trendy" or anticipate resale trends so, if I can offer one piece of advice, it would be to go with white. Don't making choosing kitchen colors so complicated or so final, just stick with a nice white foundation and bring personality in through artwork, textiles, and decorative accents.
My interior designer keeps telling me that the best kitchen colors are ones that create a neutral backdrop to any decor theme that you (or potential buyers) want in the moment. She said that you really don't want to commit to bold kitchen colour ideas that are hard to change or blend with other accent shades or design styles. This actually makes a lot of sense to me because I am one to change my decor at the drop of a hat, and especially throughout the seasons. For this reason, we decided that the best color for kitchen walls in our home was this lovely warm beige color. It looks lovely against our white washed cabinets and would be the perfect foundation to any new style that I want to bring in.
My husband and I have really been struggling to pick the best kitchen colors to go with our dark wood cabinets. Since the stain is not quite as dark as an espresso or cherry color, but certainly not that natural golden shade you see a lot, we haven't been able to figure out the right kitchen paint colors with oak cabinets of this particular undertone. As you can see we tried out a warm beige in an attempt to accent the travertine floor, but it just looks off to me. We have tossed around several other options like a bold blue or green but felt that that would be too much in such a large space. We have also considered popular kitchen colors like grey and taupe but, again, I don't think that they would blend well with our particular cabinet stain. Can anybody on here give us some advice on what you would choose?
In my professional opinion (after 20 years in the industry), I think that the best kitchen colors are classic neutral shades that fall into the beige and brown category. Be careful with major components of your design, because things like kitchen cabinet colors really set the tone for your space and can totally make or break a design. You want to choose something that is timeless so that you don't have to swap them out over the years, and so that your home will appeal to a wide variety of buyers should you need to sell one day. As far as what shades to pair with these major elements, you can experiment with trendy kitchen colors 2022 or go with more timeless hues like white and grey.
I have said this time and time again, but I truly believe that the best kitchen colors are ones that the homeowner finds most relaxing. A lot of times, clients assume that we want to keep those relaxing shades to the bedroom areas, but why wouldn't you want to feel calm and at peace when you look at your kitchen wall colors as well. Kitchens are oftentimes the heart of the home, and a ton of time is spent there between cooking, eating, and generally gathering around with friends and family. I personally find soft blues and grey to be the most calming and welcoming, so I try to look for kitchen paint colors 2022 in these hues so that it will be trendy but personally satisfying. After all, the most important thing is that you love your home.
